Fagus Factory, Alfeld an der Leine, Germany

Great to visit the shoe last factory 'Fagus' - UNESCO world heritage - built in 1911 by famous architect and founder of the BAUHAUS school Walter Gropius. The factory building was his first commissioned project after leaving university - he was only 28 years old. He founded the BAUHAUS school in 1919. The factory still produces shoe lasts not in beech wood but in plastics. The prototype is still hand crafted in beech wood and then copied via CNC engravure.
