Historic Center for Textile History, Wuppertal, Germany

This time we visited Wuppertal, from around 1850 the centre of industrial revolution in textile industry, called 'the Manchester of Germany'. Hand crafts and home work were replaced by factory work on the new invented spinning and weaving machines powered by steam engines. The "Historic Center / Historisches Zentrum Wuppertal" shows the changes in crafts and the mechanical processes involved in the production of a textile fabric from natural fiber to the finished product. We looked at vintage spinning, braiding and weaving machines and drove with the suspension railway built in 1901 above the river 'Wupper'.
